Most look at the Ferrari Enzo and see absolute perfection…………not Gemballa. Check out the full photo gallery and press release of the 2010 Gemballa MIG-U1 Ferrari Enzo. If you didnt see perfection before, I think you will agree Gemballa takes the Enzo to another level.

(Gemballa Press Release)

In the last 27 years, Uwe Gemballa has achieved the best world-wide reputation for refining Porsche cars. Now, the company manager from Leonberg near Stuttgart takes on a new challenge. The automobile manufacturer turns the most potent super sports car from Maranello, the Ferrari Enzo, into the GEMBALLA MIG-U1 – an individually produced edition, limited to only 25 cars.

The core part of the overall makeover is the entirely re-engineered aerodynamics concept by GEMBALLA. Without any exception, the manufacturer produces all components in real carbon in order to combine lowest weight with highest material strength.

Active aerodynamics for the maximum driving experience

Owing to the active aerodynamics conception, the front spoiler lip generates an additional downthrust of up to 35 kilograms at the front axle, according to the individual position. Analogically, the flap on the newly designed rear spoiler generates even up to 85 kilograms more downthrust on the rear wheels. For optimal handling results, the flap lowers, as soon as the car reaches a speed of 120 km/h. In this way, the GEMBALLA-aerodynamics concept adjusts to the outer conditions and always ensures perfect road holding characteristics. All components of the aerodynamics kit attribute to this: starting from the new front skirt with spoiler lip, over the door extensions to the diffuser and rear spoiler.

The air duct system of the GEMBALLA MIG-U1 does not only help bringing the power of the twelve-cylinder car onto the road. At the same time, the engineers from Leonberg (Baden-Württemberg) develop an extensive ventilation- and cooling concept. Here, both the front and the back wheel-houses are supplied with cooling air and this guarantees an optimal use of the high performance braking system. The outlets behind the wheels ensure that the heated air does not pile up. Moreover, the air inlets behind the doors and on the roof supply fresh air into engine compartment behind the passenger cabin. The newly designed air exhaust ducts end in and on top of the rear skirt. Their dimensions also allow the supply of an additional radiator.

The GEMBALLA car body components therefore guarantee the functionality of the new super sports car and provide the car with a unique look at the same time. Following the design of Formula-1 racing cars, the GEMBALLA MIG-U1 has an extended front and an edged rear spoiler. Formerly rounded edges were replaced in order to provide the car with an aggressive look with greedy air inlets and outlets.

Even the rear lights do not remain openly on the back, but are cased and equipped with air ducts. The MIG-U1 grows broader by 80 millimetres at the front- and 100 millimetres at the back axle.

For everyday use, the optional electro-hydraulic height-adjustment (HLS) is extremely innovative and enormously helpful. By pushing a button in the passenger compartment, it is possible to lift the body by 45 millimetres at the front- and rear axle and therefore allows driving over obstacles such as underground car park entrances and traffic ramps. Also by pushing a button or by reaching 80 km/h, the MIG-U1 lowers itself to its original level. Additionally, the multiple adjustable sports suspension which is equipped with ball bearing bushes significantly improves the handling and driving comfort of the MIG-U1.

The forged wheels GEMBALLA GTR RACING forged by our development partner “Advanced Structural Alloys” contribute both to the appearance and the performance of the car. The wheels which are made from a massive light alloy block combined highest stability with an extremely light weight. The elaborate forging process reduces the unsprung masses of one wheel set by 16 kilograms. Therefore, the wheels respond in an even more agile way and precisely follow every steering command even under highest strains. At the front, the 10×19 inch rims hold high-performance wheels in the dimension 265/35, while the back axle transfers the power of the engine through 13×20 inch rims with 335/30 wheels.

The twelve cylinder engine of the GEMBALLA MIG-U1 works with an optimised motor management and an especially adjusted exhaust system. This combination allows a performance output of 700 hp (515 kW). The four-pipe system with pneumatic flap control is added to the sports catalyser. The end-pipes are equipped with the typical GEMBALLA heat shield and share the exit into the rear skirt with the exhaust ducts of the rear wheel houses.

High-End for the Interior

In the interior, GEMBALLA devises a control centre which perfectly combines functionality and comfort. The especially for the GEMBALLA MIG-U1 designed seats, the custom-made centre console and the sports steering wheel with its leather-ultra suede combination guarantee full control over the car. At the same time, the interior of this super sports car reflects pure luxury. All interior components are lined with leather and ultra suede. The integrated high-end multimedia system offers a seven-inch touch screen, navigation, DVD changer and an iPod connection. The 950-Watt amplifier operates the high frequency ranges in the cockpit front, the 165 millimetre large membrane on the door linings and the subwoofer between the seats. GEMBALLA-logos on the seats, the floor mats and the safety belts perfect the refinement.

With the GEMBALLA MIG-U1, the automobile manufacturer once again proves that its know-how is not only limited to Porsche cars. On the basis of the already exhilarating Ferrari Enzo, the engineers developed a unique car. But even the limited edition with only 25 cars is not exclusive enough for GEMBALLA. Therefore, every single GEMBALLA MIG-U1 is individually adjusted. This ensures that there will not be any identical cars. Therefore, the specialist with its reputation for unique high-end refinement once again meets the requirements for highest individuality.

200 mph Supercars: Caruso Concours d’Elegance at Americana on Brand

“If you’ve never been at 200 mph, it’s a sensation beyond belief.”  The words of Dick Messer, the longtime Director of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, could hardly have better summarized the reasoning behind the museum’s sponsorship of an October 11 car show that focused on automobiles capable of 200 mph.  Reaching out to local collectors and loyal members, the museum was able to assemble 23 such supercars for a fun and free event set against the backdrop of one of the area’s most popular open air luxury retail centers, the Americana on Brand Boulevard.

Located in the Los Angeles-adjacent city of Glendale, nicknamed the Jewel City, Americana on Brand is the latest project of Caruso Affiliated, a regional real estate development company that has garnered a reputation for the outdoor retail malls that are becoming increasingly commonplace in Southern California.  There is a small degree of irony in the fact that a Caruso property would host an exhibition of expensive supercars, given that company founder Henry Caruso made the majority of his fortune as the founder of Dollar Rent-A-Car.

“To my knowledge, and I read practically every [automotive] publication, at least here in the United States, and some in Europe, this has never been done before – that this many supercars ended up in one place at one time,” explained Messer.  The Petersen, of course contributed some of the most stellar offerings on display, including a Ferrari F40, F50 and 575 Superamerica, a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, a Bugatti EB110 and Veyron, a Ford GT and a Jaguar XJ220.  Another area institution, the Riverside International Automotive Museum, supplied a freshly acquired Maserati MC12, which in concert with a handful of locally owned Lamborghinis and Ferraris, rounded out the representation of the major Italian supercar rivals.

Rarer contributions came in the form of a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG, one of about 100 carbon fiber-bodied CLK models homologated for racing and one of only 40 that the manufacturer allowed to circulate into public ownership.  A Cizeta V16T, one of roughly 10 of the Marcelo Gandini-penned supercars that employ a transversely mounted V-16 engine, provided a rare glimpse of another little-known exotic.  The most unusual car on hand though was an AREX, whose acronym stands for American Roadster Experimental.  Fully looking like an experiment, the scissor-doored twin-turbo V-8 oddity was produced in the early 90s by former GM and Toyota designer David Stollery and Gale Banks Engineering.

Though the show wore the banner of a Concours d’Elegance, there was no judging other than one People’s Choice award, which went to a Ferrari Enzo owned by Armen Aslanian of Glendale.   The show was the third such event that Americana on Brand has hosted in the last year, the previous two focusing on classic cars and the cars of celebrities.  Caruso Public Relations Coordinator Jenny Bronstein clarified that the event would probably be held on an annual basis from this point forward.

“This is all excess beyond excess,” concluded Messer.  “Nobody needs to have one of these cars.  You don’t need to have a car that goes 200 mph plus to drive around Los Angeles,” he said, referring to the city’s notoriously congested traffic.  “But on an open road, there’s nothing like it!”

The Ferrari Enzo with its 660 horsepower is arguably one of the most exclusive cars in the world, both in terms of its driving dynamics and purchase price. Those looking for something considerably faster and more exclusive choose the edo Enzo XX Evolution.

A bump in displacement from 6.0 to 6.3 liters, new camshafts, new titanium valve spring retainers and connecting rods, modified cylinder heads, new high performance exhaust headers, high flow catalytic converters, mufflers and air filters: that’s the scope of edo competition’s engine modifications. The standard hydraulic tappets are replaced with newly developed solid tappets, enabling the 12 cylinder engine to rev to an incredible 9,600 rpm. This is unmatched by any other 12 cylinder engine at this time! Additionally the intake system of the V12 was modified, a new high performance clutch – available with „strada“ or „pista“ friction pads – and a more powerful oil pump were installed. The power output is increased by 180 to 840 horsepower. Without mufflers more than 860 horsepower is possible. The maximum torque of 780 Nm (575 ft-lb) is available at 5,800 rpm.

While the power output is increased, the Enzo’s weight is decreased by a respectable 100 kilograms (220 lb). The result in numerical terms is that the edo Enzo XX Evolution accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.0 seconds and 300 km/h in just 19 seconds. The top speed exceeds 390 km/h (242 mph).

The acoustical side of things is obviously not being neglected. A stainless steel muffler featuring remote-controlled butterfly valves is available on request. This setup lets the driver switch the high performance exhaust between two different sound levels.

Astonishing transmission shift times: While the production Enzo takes 110 milliseconds, the edo Enzo XX Evolution shift times were reduced to an incredible 60 milliseconds! For comparison, an F1 car shifts in 40 milliseconds.

The edo/KW race suspension from the FIA GT series was retuned for the Enzo XX Evolution, promising ultimate driving dynamics. The nose lift functionality is retained. The low-friction 3-way adjustable shock absorbers can be adjusted to the individual tastes of the driver and provide excellent steering precision and feedback. The edoinstalled tire pressure monitoring system displays the pressures for each of the four wheels. Providing ample grip for the edo Enzo XX Evolution are 19 inch front wheels and 20 inch rear wheels with 335 mm wide tires. The drive shafts were replaced due to the higher propulsive forces acting on them. The new units are 4 kg (8.8 lb) lighter and considerably more robust in order to cope with the enormous power increase.

The aerodynamics package is absolutely unique.

It includes a complete exhaust system with tips machined from billet aluminum, now relocated to the top of the body. The tips are plasma-coated using a special process. The newly developed rear skirt featuring winglets and a rear wing profile, adjustable in 3 steps, improves the ground effect and can be tuned to the tastes of the driver. The new retractable rear wing is upgraded with a taller flap resulting in increased downforce and stability, especially at high speeds. New LED tail lights round off the rear view of the car.

A test day with an instructor, mechanics, data logging, transport and hospitality is included in the conversion package.

All modifications are carried out exclusively at edo competition Motorsport GmbH in Ahlen.

Euro Motorsport :: The Only Pininfarina Designed Showroom in the US

Pininfarina. A story that started some 79 years ago with a history of Italian style denoted by beauty, elegance and functionality. Automotive aficionados around the globe are certain to be familiar with the many manufacturers that have Pininfarina to thank for the design of some of the most significant cars ever created.

Now imagine a world designed by Pininfarina outside the automotive world. A world where you step out of your Pininfarina designed car and step into an actual facility designed by Pininfarina. Enter Pininfarina Extra and Euromotorsport.

Pininfarina Extra, operates in sectors different from transportation, maintaining a link with the Pininfarina Group identity, which is strongly associated with the design of sport cars, technological products and able to generate strong emotions. A world where the key words of design are: Elegance, Essentiality, Innovation.

So where does one go to enter this world of extraordinary design and function? Well we at Luxury Auto Direct Magazine did not have to travel very far at all. A pristine example of the latest in design from Pininfarina Extra is located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It is the brand new automotive showroom of Euromotorsport.

This magnificent example of design and functionality did not just happen overnight. Armed with over twenty years of experience in the automotive business, owner Gene Morales wanted to create something new. To build something that was missing for consumers in the automotive buying experience. It was about creating an experience for the buyer and building a long term relationship built on knowledge, confidence and trust. To establish a reputation of being around long after the initial transaction occurs and being a part of the exotic car ownership experience from start to finish. As owners expand their collections, face new challenges and require more support and advice, Euromotorsport is there for them.

At over 9000 sq ft , the Pininfarina Extra designed showroom is both inviting and expansive. It is also the only automotive showroom in the United States ever designed by Pininfarina Extra. It even has a Pininfarina Extra “Badge” to authenticate the project.

One of the first things you notice is just how welcoming the facility is. The typical car showroom image of a “”Lets sell you something” is not to be found here and has been replaced with an environment that projects confidence and elegance. Take for example the comforts that have been added to insure a five star experience. With an attention to detail that only Pininfarina Extra can deliver, materials have been imported all the way from Italy to find their new home in this stunning showroom.

The Pininfarina kitchen is just one perfect example. All components are Pininfarina including the striking red chairs, sleek Euro style cabinets , fixtures and just about everything else. One can’t help but feel as if you are surrounded by the exquisite interior of a fine automobile. New car smell and all.

Even the receptionist desk is a work of art, in fact it’s the only one of its kind in black. As for the work space at Euromotorsport, all of the offices are filled with the finest in Pinanfarina designed furniture to ensure a comfortable and relaxed environment for clients to relax in. Additionally, a multi screen wall display is placed conveniently for guests to enjoy while they sit in modular furniture that is both sleek and crisp in its design. One of the last design elements to arrive was the wall art. Images including the Ferrari Enzo, the one of a kind P45 and renderings of the Birdcage 75 concept car were all being hung on the walls of this dream facility just as we were going to press.

With all materials approved in advance by Pininfarina Extra, we asked owner Gene Morales what was the most unique challenge in the design. “That would be the ceiling, it is a work of art on its own” says Morales.

Created from thin gauge metal specially chosen to fit the exacting standards of Pininfarina Extra, the ceiling posed a design challenge from the very beginning. Once the material was finally approved, it was then shaped and put into place. The end result was perfection as it flowed like waves along the ceiling.

Fortunately, Morales did not have to go far to work with the design team. Pininfarina Extra has an office locally and that fact saved both time and money. Managing Director Franco Lodato worked direct with Morales and was given absolute control over every aspect of the project from start to finish. Lodato is well known with projects that include the Maserati Birdcage 75 Concept car, the RAZOR phone, Reebok Pump and a host of others.

In the end, the overall design of this showroom is not just the external embellishment of function. It is an aesthetic and functional solution for the collective and individual needs of car enthusiasts who are very passionate about their cars. As a whole it represents lasting values and performance, a trademark that is the very foundation of Euromotorsport. For more information visit www.euromotorsport.net.
